Who we are
Taskpuff is operated by AppForge Inc. (“Taskpuff”, “we”, “us”). Taskpuff is a home-services marketplace. A customer posts a job, nearby approved pros send offers, and the two of them chat and arrange a time. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. Questions go to support@taskpuff.com.
What we collect
- Account: your email address. You sign in with a one-time code sent to it. Customers have no other profile.
- Pro profile (pros only): business or display name, whether you are independent or a company, a company representative name, your primary town, coverage towns and radius, services, optional public links (TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, website) and an optional logo.
- Location: if you allow it, your device location is used to find your nearest town while the app is open; it is never stored or used for tracking. You can turn off location access at any time in your device or browser settings. A job is tied to a town. A postal code is optional and private to the job owner. A street address is entered only when you arrange a visit.
- Content you create: job titles and details, offers (message, estimate, timing), arrangements, chat messages, reviews (1 to 5 stars and an optional comment), and safety reports you file (free text, optionally tied to a message).
- Photos and videos: we re-encode them and strip location and other metadata before they leave your device.
- Device push token: stored for each device so we can send push notifications.
- Earlier waitlist records: taskpuff.com used to collect a waitlist email, a role choice and consent. Those records may still be held. You can ask us to delete them.
What we do not collect
- No payments or card data. Taskpuff takes no payment.
- No precise location stored.
- No analytics, advertising, tracking or crash-reporting tools.
- No access to your contacts.
How we use it
We use your information to run Taskpuff: to sign you in, show jobs to nearby pros, deliver offers and messages, show pro profiles and reviews, send the notifications you have not turned off, review reports and keep the service safe, and answer your questions. We suggest a category for a new job with an AI service (see service providers).
Who sees what
- Pros browsing jobs see the town and distance, not an address.
- A street address is shared only with the pro you arrange a visit with, and you can revoke it.
- Job photos and videos are visible to you and to pros who are eligible for or have made an offer on the job. Chat media stays in its conversation.
- A pro profile is public: name, “ID checked” badge, services, towns, rating, jobs done and recent reviews. A pro logo is a public image.
- Reviews are shown without the customer’s identity.
Service providers
We use these providers to run Taskpuff. Each provider receives only what it needs for its purpose, and is bound to protect it with at least the same level of protection as this policy.
- Supabase: database, sign-in, file storage and server functions.
- Cloudflare: hosting for taskpuff.com and app.taskpuff.com.
- Resend: sends notification email from noreply@mail.taskpuff.com, and delivers safety reports to our team.
- Apple Push Notification service: delivers push notifications. A notification can include up to 120 characters of a job title or message, a town, a pro name and a price.
- TypeSafe: an AI service that receives the text of a job title (600 characters at most) to suggest a category. We do not attach your email, account id or saved address, but anything you type into the title itself is included, so keep personal details out of titles.
Your device contacts these services directly, under their own privacy policies:
- Apple MapKit: on iOS, address suggestions are made by Apple, so the text you type goes to Apple.
- Photon (run by Komoot): on the website, address suggestions send the text you type and the job’s town location to Photon.
- Google Maps and Apple Maps: when you tap Directions, the website opens Google Maps and the iOS app opens Apple Maps, each with the arranged address.
- OpenStreetMap: the website’s maps load OpenStreetMap tiles, so your IP address reaches OpenStreetMap.
We do not sell your data
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for advertising.
Notifications
We send push notifications and email about offers, messages, arrangements, finished and confirmed jobs, new jobs nearby, withdrawn offers, cancelled jobs and invites. In Settings you can turn each category of push and email on or off. Every email also has a one-click unsubscribe link.
Browser and device storage
Taskpuff sets no cookies. The web app at app.taskpuff.com uses your browser’s local storage, session storage and IndexedDB for your session, current town, drafts and preferences. The iOS app keeps your session in the Keychain and keeps preferences and unsent drafts on the device. taskpuff.com stores nothing in your browser.
Retention and account deletion
You can delete your account in the iOS app under Settings, then Delete account, or at app.taskpuff.com/account/delete. You confirm with a fresh email code.
Deleted: your profile, links, coverage, saved addresses, device tokens, notification settings, offer text, messages (they become “Message deleted”) and media.
Kept: content-free shells of jobs and conversations the other person still needs (shown as “Deleted user”), records of confirmed finished work, a deleted customer’s star ratings without the comment, and reports filed against the user, which we keep for safety. Backups and logs age out on our providers’ schedules.
Job and chat photos and videos that are never attached to a job or message are deleted after 7 days. Media removed from a job is deleted an hour after removal, and media on jobs that were all cancelled is deleted 7 days after cancellation. Job and chat photos and videos are otherwise kept while the job or conversation they belong to exists, with no age limit, and are deleted when you delete your account or, for chat media, when the other person in the conversation deletes theirs. An upload that never finishes is deleted after 90 days. A pro’s logo is kept while it is your current logo, with no age limit. A replaced or removed logo file is deleted within 7 days, and logos are deleted if the profile is rejected or its approval is withdrawn.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email support@taskpuff.com. Depending on where you live, laws such as Canada’s PIPEDA, the EU and UK GDPR and California privacy law may give you additional rights, and we will honour the ones that apply to you. You can also complain to your local privacy regulator.
Children
Taskpuff is for people 18 and older. It is not meant for children, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
International processing
Our providers may process your information in Canada, the United States and other countries, which may have different privacy laws from where you live.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above, and for material changes we will tell you in the app or by email.
